An Internet Service Provider (like WiA) links you directly to the internet, whereas commercial 'online' services providers connect you first to their own network, and then indirectly to the internet.

Commercial 'online' services rely on their own proprietary software, and moderate all behavior on their network (including chat and discussion groups). Commercial 'online' services by nature restrict access to the internet through censoring of newsgroups and particular web addresses.

Commercial 'online' services charge per download and upload in terms of kilobits per second. WiA provides you with unrestricted access to the internet and all of its resources, so downloads and uploads are limited only to your requested speed. By speed we mean bandwidth, in terms of 128kbps, 256kbps and so on.

The point-to-multipoint Canopy system offers speeds from 512kbps to 14mbps (aggregate data rates) and the WiA point-to-point bridges deliver from 7.5mbps to 300mbps (aggregate data rates) to your user now.
